Solar Control

Benefits and advantages

Nowadays technology makes it possible to offer a full range of solar control glazing that not only provides comfort in the hot season, but also manages properly to keep the heat from escaping in winter.

Solar control glass is divided into three main groups based on efficiency: tinted glass, reflective glass and multi-functional solar control glass.

Benefits

The easiest way to protect yourself from the heat of the sun is with tinted glass. The thicker the glass – the more intense the tint, the lower the transmission of visible light and solar energy.

On a hot summer day, tinted glass heats up and radiates heat into the room. The heating requires additional treatment, toughened, to prevent thermal breakage.

Shades: brown, grey, green and blue.

Application

Tinted glass is mostly used for:

  • In buildings where the window area is a large part of the building
  • Windows and facades for public, commercial and industrial buildings
Table of characteristics
Benefits

The surface of the reflective glass is coated with a pyrolytic reflective coating. This type of coating is weather-resistant and can be used on the outside and inside of the glass unit. It is recommended to use a coating inside the unit for easier maintenance. Reflective or mirrored glass gives customers privacy inside the building, while at the same time protecting them from unwanted excess solar gain and visible light streaming in.

Depending on the customer’s needs and appearance, reflective coating can be:

  • Classic (light brown (amber))
  • Super Silver (silver neutral)
  • SGG Mirastar
Application

Reflective glass is mostly used for:

  • Glazing of commercial buildings
  • Windows and facades of individual houses, public buildings.
Table of characteristics
Benefits

This is the highest efficiency group of solar control glazing, which is the result of advanced technology that coats the glass surface with several layers of different metal oxide coatings. Multi-functional glass controls solar energy in the warm season and insulates heat in the cold season.

A wide range of choices: different light transmittance and solar factor, different external shades and specularity (reflectance).

Application

Multi-functional solar control glass is mostly used for:

  • Public buildings
  • Facades of individual houses, public buildings
